Biography

Tom Caldwell is the Managing Partner and founder of Marin Financial Consulting. He is a Silicon Valley veteran and has provided full-time, interim and part-time CFO services to public and private companies for over 15 years. He has raised in excess of $900 million for companies he has served as CFO, including $260 million in the public equity markets through the completion of 2 public offerings. As CFO, he managed an IPO ranked in the top 20 most successful IPOs of the year (WSJ ranking-out of 546 IPOs). Tom has served as CFO to many Venture Capital and Private Equity backed companies, including, among others, Bain Capital, Trinity Ventures, VenRock, Comcast Interactive Venture Capital, Cox Enterprises, Technology Crossover Ventures, Hambrecht & Quist, Chase Capital Partners, TimeWarner and Shoreview Capital.

Tom holds an MBA in Finance and Business Strategy from the University of Chicago, where he completed the Ph.D. series in Theory of Finance.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Santa Clara University, where he was the Louis B. Mariani Scholarship recipient. Tom is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma business school academic honors society. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Tom has earned a sterling reputation in the local and national financial community.  He has appeared on the “PBS Nightly Business Report” discussing internet industry M&A and growth strategies and has been called upon for comment by major media such as Reuters, The Financial Times of London, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, Crain’s Chicago Business, Fortune, and other well-respected media serving the investment community.  Tom has been a frequent speaker at educational conferences for law and accounting firms, as well as at industry trade organizations such as the IBF Annual Venture Capital Conference,  the Association for Corporate Growth, Financial Executives International, the American Electronics Association and the Association of Publicly Traded Companies.  He has been a guest lecturer on Mergers and Acquisitions, Valuation of an Enterprise and Class Action Lawsuits at the Santa Clara University Graduate School of Business, where he was inducted into the "Alumni IPO Hall of Fame."

Tom is married with two daughters and is an instrument certified private pilot.
